The Royal Cornwall Museum is found in the vibrant city of Truro, in England and is owned and managed by the Royal Institution of Cornwall. The museum dates back to 1818, where it was formed with the main aim of creating awareness in the natural history, the ethnology, the fine arts and the industrial arts which specifically related to Cornwall but there are also collections from the other parts of UK.
The museum features great and amazing objects of arts such as the unpacked mummy (Egyptology). There is a Rashleigh Gallery section found in the museum that pays homage to Phillip Rashleigh’s collections of minerals that he amassed towards the end of the 18th century. Top among the collections are a large gold nugget that was found at Perranarworthal and Liroconite, one of the largest specimens ever collected.
Needless to mention are the decorative arts that adorn the museum, hosting ancient and timeless master pieces of renowned artists; Cornish and European works of arts alongside master pieces of internationally recognized artists. The Royal Cornwall Museum also exhibits geology, flora and fauna of southwest of England amongst other geological and biological collections.
The Royal Cornwall Museum prides in having over 2000 pieces of fine arts consisting of paintings made in watercolours and oils, sculptures print arts and drawings. Most of these arts are for artists living in Cornwall such as Henry Scott Tuke and Harold Harvey who dominates the fine art collections with their timeless pieces of arts. The collections are categorized into; fine arts, social history, world cultures, coins, biology, geology and decorative arts hence would be easier to browse through.
